A virtual research lab offering hands-on training in DFT, MD simulations, and computational materials science using industry-standard tools like CASTEP, DMol³, and Forcite.
SHAN Academy of Quantum Simulation & Materials (SAQSM) is a virtual research lab founded by Zeshan Ahmed, an MPhil scholar in Physics, to make advanced simulation tools — like Materials Studio, CASTEP, DMol³, and Forcite — accessible to students and researchers worldwide.

"I believe that anyone, anywhere, should be able to learn real-world computational skills and apply them in meaningful research — regardless of whether they have access to physical laboratories."
I am an MPhil scholar in Physics with a specialization in materials science. My passion lies in quantum simulations and computational research — specifically in Density Functional Theory (DFT) and Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations. I work with advanced tools to explore electronic, optical, thermal, and adsorption properties of functional materials.
To help students and researchers learn these tools, I founded SHAN Academy (SAQSM) — a virtual platform offering hands-on training in Materials Studio, CASTEP, DMol³, Forcite, and more.
Learn More About SAQSM"Having access to simulated cloud backends during the course allowed me to write quantum circuits that were executable on active processing hardware."
"The computational materials design class completely reformed my modeling skills. The instructor walked us through direct quantum simulations step-by-step."
